1. Swedish Embassy celebrates 100 years of Tagore’s Nobel Prize. Rabindranath Tagore, the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature will be at the centre of celebrations of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week in the country. Organised by the Swedish Embassy, the seventh edition of the week is dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore to mark the centenary of his Nobel Prize in Literature.

3. Jammu and Kashmir Bank has reappointed Mushtaq Ahmad as its Chairman and CEO for a period of another three years. Ahmed’s term with the private sector bank ended on October 6 this year. He has been the Chairman and CEO of the bank since October 2010.
4. LIC Housing Finance Ltd has appointed Sunita Sharma as Managing Director and CEO with effect from November 5, 2013. Prior to this, Sunita was Executive Director of Investments at Life Insurance Corporation and was looking after the areas of equity research and risk management. She takes over from the incumbent MD & CEO, V.K. Sharma.
5. Nirupama Rao, Indian envoy to the US, bid farewell to her career of diplomacy, as members of the American diplomatic corps and her counterparts from countries like China and Brazil gathered at a reception hosted in her honour by the State Department. Rao will be succeeded by S Jaishankar, currently India's Ambassador to China.
6. Mahatma Gandhi's Charkha was sold for £110000 (1.1 crore rupees approximately) at UK Auction. The charkha of Mahatma Gandhi is about eight decades old. His last/final will was also auctioned over £20000 (19 lakh rupees approximately) for historical documents and artefacts by the Mullock’s Auction house in Shropshire, England.
7. Pakistan Successfully Test Fired Surface-to-Surface Missile Hatf IX (Nasr) with a range of 60 km. The test fire was conducted with successive launches of 4 x missiles (Salvo) from a state of the art multi tube launcher. Nasr is designed specifically to defeat Anti-Tactical Missile Defence Systems of all kinds. The missile has the capability to carry nuclear weapons.
8. Mark Schwarzer, Australia Goalkeeper Retired from International Football. Mark Schwarzer (41 years old) represented Australia at international level on 109 occasions since his debut in 1993, and one of the key players in qualifying for three consecutive World Cups. Mark Schwarzer is the key player in Socceroos team (Australia National football team) for twenty years.
9. British Paralympic powerlifter Ali Jawad on 5 November 2013 won gold at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Asian Open Championshipswith a world-record lift. Ali lifted 185.5kg in the 59kg class in Malaysia to better his record by 10.5kg. The championship was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ali Jawad is 24 years old.
10. Ishwar Das Rohani, the Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly, dieddue to cardiac arrest at Jabalpur. He was the speaker of the assembly of Madhya Pradesh from 2003. He was 67.
11. Bill de Blasio was elected New York City's first Democratic mayor in two decades on Tuesday, running on an unabashedly liberal, tax-the-rich platform that contrasted sharply with billionaire Michael Bloomberg's record during 12 years in office.

13. Assamese music director Sher Choudhury passed away on 6 November 2013 at B. Baruah Cancer Institute in Guwahati, Assam. He was 69. Sher Choudhury received National Award for best music director for the Gautam Bora directed film 'Wosobipo' in 1990.
14. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday flagged off the test run of the rolling stock of the Chennai Metro Rail system, marking an important milestone in the execution of the Metro Rail project. Chennai Metro Rail Limited Managing Director K. Rajaraman explained to her features of the train car.
